This comic stems from the fact that I read somewhere on the internet (so it has to be true) that smaller plantings end up establishing faster and growing quicker. That also appeals to my miserly tendencies since smaller plantings typically cost less. So our house garden and landscaping projects always seem to start with ridiculously small plants, and it takes a few years before they catch up!
